Communities across Plateau State are celebrating new access to clean water as the Plateau State Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (PLAMWASSA) wraps up an assessment tour of isolated water scheme projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects, launched last year under the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) Program for Results (PforR), are aimed at solving one of the most pressing needs in small towns \u2014 potable water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assessment team\u2019s first stop was Kadarko and Mavo in Wase Local Government Area, where solar-powered boreholes and 3.5km water reticulation systems were completed by Mobilinks and Klogba Nig. Ltd. Residents now fetch water from kiosks built across the communities. \u201cWe never thought we\u2019d see water run like this in our lifetime,\u201d one community elder said, visibly relieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there, the team moved to Langtang North, where Pilgani and Dadur communities are also enjoying steady water supply from projects handled by Creative Best Turnkey Project and AVI Nig. Ltd. Both schemes, like those in Wase, were found to be working and already in use by the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour also took the team to Mangu Local Government Area, where multiple contractors delivered projects in Kerang, Ampang West, Mangu Halle, Mangun, Panyam, Pushit, and Daho. Solar-powered boreholes with reticulation networks are now serving these towns, many of which had long depended on unsafe water sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Maikatako, Bokkos LGA, the project is also complete, though minor challenges were reported. PLAMWASSA assured residents that the issues would be fixed promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, most of the projects were found to meet specifications, with only a few adjustments required before formal handover. Officials say the schemes will soon be commissioned by Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the communities, the transformation is already real. No longer do women and children walk long distances to fetch water from streams; no longer do families depend on contaminated sources. \u201cThis project has changed our lives,\u201d a grateful mother in Pilgani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When finally handed over, the water schemes will not just be infrastructure \u2014 they will be lifelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the goal of the city government is to create and maintain a livable, sustainable, and vibrant community for all who live, work, and visit the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
