Mr. Samuel Dapiya
Director General
Notable projects carried out by PEPSA under the SURWASH program include:
The Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), established in 2003 from the former Plateau State Task Force on Sanitation, plays a pivotal role in urban sanitation and environmental health across Plateau State, particularly within the Greater Jos Area. PEPSA is committed to promoting public health and ensuring a clean, safe environment through effective sanitation management, waste disposal, and hygiene promotion.
PEPSA operates under a comprehensive organizational structure, with six directorates handling key functions including administration, finance, enforcement, sanitation, environmental health, and internal audit. With a dedicated staff of 141 members, PEPSA continues to implement projects that align with the goals of the SURWASH program, contributing to the overall public health improvement and environmental sustainability in Plateau State.
As an integral partner in the SURWASH program, PEPSA is responsible for overseeing sanitation and hygiene practices in urban areas, ensuring compliance with sanitation regulations, and driving behavior change initiatives aimed at reducing open defecation. The agency works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for residents by fostering cleaner neighborhoods and promoting proper waste management practices.
