In a bid to improve performance, service delivery, and accountability, the Plateau Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (PLAMWASSA) recently held a two-day capacity-building training for its key staff on the use of the scorecard system.
The training, which took place at the Community Social Development Agency (CSDA) office along Rayfield Road, was geared towards equipping staff with essential tools for tracking performance, ensuring proper documentation, and enhancing transparency.
While delivering his welcome remarks, the General Manager of PLAMWASSA, Mr. Jelkyes Jacob Dakat, noted that the training was a deliberate step toward institutional strengthening. He emphasized the need for the agency to begin appraising its activities regularly, which he said was critical for strategic planning and improved service delivery.
“It is high time the agency takes stock of its activities using reliable metrics. This will guide strategic planning and help us provide better services to the people of Plateau State,” Dakat said.
During a technical presentation, resource person Mr. Geoffrey Gakman introduced participants to the importance of setting SMART objectives—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—and how to create supporting activities to align with those objectives. He stressed that the scorecard system would enhance performance tracking and foster a results-driven approach.
The final session exposed participants to the State MDA Digital Performance System, offering insights on how PLAMWASSA can integrate the system into its operations for efficient monitoring and evaluation. Participants also engaged in hands-on desktop applications to deepen their understanding through practical experience.
The training brought together Assistant General Managers (AGMs) and heads of critical departments, all of whom actively participated in discussions and practical sessions aimed at driving operational efficiency. PLAMWASSA’s initiative underscores its commitment to accountability, transparency, and delivering quality services to the residents of Plateau State.
