Another feather has been added to the cap of the General Manager of the Plateau Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (PLAMWASSA), Jelkyes Jacob Dakat, as he was recently decorated with the prestigious Peace Ambassadorial Award 2025 by the Inter-religious Youths Affairs for Peace and Unity (IYAPU).
IYAPU, a youth-based organization comprising both Christian and Muslim members, is committed to promoting peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence in Nigeria. The group recognizes and celebrates leaders who have demonstrated selfless service, impactful leadership, and a commitment to societal development. It was in line with this mission that the organization honored Mr. Dakat in a brief but significant ceremony held at his office.
The National Coordinator of IYAPU, Ambassador Taofeeq Usman, who led the delegation, stated that the award was in recognition of Mr. Dakat’s outstanding contributions in the areas of peace advocacy, youth empowerment, philanthropy, educational development, and overall human transformation. He described the General Manager as a shining example of servant leadership whose influence transcends the boundaries of his official duty.
In his acceptance speech, Jelkyes Dakat expressed deep appreciation to the organization for the honour bestowed on him. He stated that his guiding principle in life is to live in peace and harmony with everyone regardless of religion, ethnicity, or social status, emphasizing that every human being is valuable.
“This recognition will spur me to do more. I remain committed to impacting lives positively and contributing to the betterment of society,” he said.
The award presentation was witnessed by some members of the PLAMWASSA management team who also commended the gesture and celebrated their General Manager’s continuous strides in leadership and humanitarian service.
